KWVRS is a multidisciplinary practice of vocational evaluators, certified life care planners and forensic economists, supported by a board-certified physician, that prepares evaluations, plans, analyses and testimony for attorneys on both sides of civil litigation. The firm is led by Daniel Wolstein, Ph.D., its CEO and President, who holds a doctoral degree in rehabilitation counseling and administration from East Carolina University and served the American Board of Vocational Experts as president-elect (2021 to 2023), president (2023 to 2025) and past president (2025 to 2027). Vocational experts assess what work a person can still do and what it pays, given the person's education, training, work history and medical restrictions. The assessment rests on the records, a transferable skills analysis and a labor market survey and is stated as an earning capacity opinion that compares the person before and after the injury. Applied to a spouse in a matrimonial matter, the same assessment addresses employability and earning potential for alimony and equitable distribution questions and is available to either spouse's counsel.

Certified life care planners project the future medical and non-medical needs of a person with a catastrophic injury or chronic condition and price each item across the remaining life expectancy with the basis for every recommendation documented. Forensic economists convert the vocational and medical foundation into present-value figures for lost earnings and earning capacity, lost household services and the cost of future care, with sensitivity analysis across reasonable assumptions. Loss of household services analyses quantify the unpaid domestic work that an injured person can no longer perform.

A board-certified physician conducts the firm's standard of care reviews, evaluating whether the care documented in the record met accepted medical standards; the review is limited to that question. Every discipline prepares its work to the admissibility and disclosure standards that govern expert evidence and gives deposition and trial testimony on it, and the expert disclosure deliverables organize the report, the credentials and the file to the requirements of the forum.

KWVRS accepts plaintiff and defense engagements on the same terms, and the retaining party does not change the method. The evaluee is interviewed and tested the same way, the records are read the same way and the arithmetic is the same, whichever side retained the firm. An opinion follows the evidence to its conclusion, including a conclusion the retaining attorney did not hope for, and that conclusion is reported to counsel before the deposition rather than discovered at it.

The firm does not advocate. Its reports state what the data support and what they do not, name the sources and the assumptions, and describe the limits of the opinion, so that either side's counsel can test the work and the trier of fact can weigh it. Rebuttal engagements are handled the same way: the opposing expert's method and data are examined against the same standards the firm applies to its own.

An engagement opens with a conflict check and a written engagement agreement that fixes the scope, the retainer and the deadlines. Records follow: medical, educational, vocational and employment records, deposition transcripts and any prior expert reports. Where the question calls for it, the expert interviews the evaluee and administers standardized testing, and a life care planner coordinates with the treating providers; where it does not, the opinion rests on the record.

The analysis and the written report come next. A vocational report documents the transferable skills analysis, the labor market survey and the earning capacity opinion; a life care plan documents each need, its frequency, duration and cost source; an economic report documents the earnings analysis, the worklife, growth and discount assumptions and the present-value calculation. A full retained-expert report is typically 30 to 60 days from receipt of complete records; complexity and the volume of records move a case inside that range, and rush timelines are accommodated case by case. The expert then gives deposition and trial testimony on the report and prepares supplemental opinions as new records or rebuttal reports are produced.
