Job Placement Engagement Process

A job placement engagement proceeds in five steps, from the referral and the conflict check to placement and follow-up after a hire. The referral source opens it by naming the person, the claim, the restrictions on file and the scope it authorizes; the counselor checks the referral against the firm's open forensic matters before accepting it, then meets the person and builds the vocational profile the search rests on. Job-seeking skills work and job development follow, and the engagement closes with a closure report.

Engagement process

  1. Referral and conflict check: We confirm the referral, check it against open forensic matters, and agree the scope, authorized hours and reporting interval.
  2. Intake and vocational profile: We meet the person, review the restrictions and work history, and set target occupations inside the restrictions.
  3. Job-seeking skills: We prepare the resume and applications and rehearse interviews for the target occupations.
  4. Job development and search: We contact employers who hire for the target occupations and support the person's applications, recording every contact.
  5. Placement and follow-up: After a hire we follow up with the person and, where agreed, the employer, then deliver a closure report.

Questions about job placement engagement process

What happens first in a job placement referral?

The conflict check. Before the referral is accepted it is run against the firm's open forensic matters, because KWVRS does not place a person it is evaluating as an expert in the same matter. A clear referral is confirmed in writing with the scope, the authorized hours and the reporting interval, and the counselor contacts the person to arrange the intake meeting.

What does KWVRS need to begin job placement?

The restrictions on file from the treating provider or a functional capacity evaluation, the work history with dates and duties, the education and any licenses or certificates, the person's contact details and location, and the referral source's goal for the file. Where the person has already searched, the record of that search is useful too, so that employers already approached are not approached again without reason.

How are target occupations chosen in a job placement engagement?

From the vocational profile. The counselor codes the past jobs, reads the restrictions in work terms and identifies occupations the person's skills transfer to within those restrictions, using the same occupational classifications a transferable skills analysis uses. The list is narrowed to occupations that exist in the person's labor market and that the person is willing to pursue, and the referral source sees it before the search starts.

What does job development mean in job placement?

Direct contact with employers on the person's behalf. The counselor identifies employers who hire for the target occupations, contacts them to learn what they need and whether the restrictions can be met, presents the person where there is a fit, and supports the application and the interview. Every contact is recorded with the date, the employer, the occupation and the result, whatever that result is.

What happens after a hire in a job placement engagement?

Follow-up. The counselor checks in with the person after the start date and, where the referral source and the employer have agreed to it, with the employer, to confirm the restrictions are being met and the placement is holding. The follow-up period is set with the referral source. The closure report then goes to the referral source with the outcome, the complete search log and the counselor's observations.
