What the midpoint includes
Lost earnings (past + future, present value)$2,922,796
Future medical, care & other (present value)$0
The planning range applies fixed scenario bounds of -15% and +20% to the point estimate (the midpoint). It is not a statistical confidence interval and not a prediction of any outcome.
How the midpoint is combined
Past lost earnings: annual income plus fringe benefits, times the past earnings lost percentage, times the past loss period. Past amounts are not discounted.
Future lost earnings: annual income plus fringe benefits, grown each year at the wage growth rate and discounted back at the discount rate over the future worklife loss (as entered, or expected retirement age minus current age), summed to present value.
Future medical, attendant care, and other annual costs: grown each year at the medical/care inflation rate and discounted at the discount rate over the same number of years, summed to present value.
Midpoint = past lost earnings + present value of future lost earnings + present value of future medical, attendant care, and other costs. Past medical, attendant care, and other amounts are shown separately and are not added.
